Uncle Sam Surrenders at last
At last, our MIC chief Uncle Sam has made a gentlemen statement that he’s not going to offer himself to accept any cabinet post in Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s new administration. He also mentioned that he would not return to the Cabinet by seeking a senatorship title.
It is learnt that he has submitted the names of the three MIC parliamentarians - Dr S Subramaniam (party secretary general and Segamat MP), K Devamany (central working committee member and Cameron Highlands MP) and M Saravanan (party information chief and Tapah MP).
New face Saravanan, also the Federal Territory MIC chief, is seen as a favourite to be offered a minister’s post.
Most Indians in Malaysia were celebrating while Uncle Sam suffered a very humiliating loss on the recent election. They were even merrier when other candidates of MIC were being casualties on the heavy defeats in the midst of a swing among the voters, which resulted opposition new comers to win unprecedented number of seats in parliament and DUN.
DAP’s Perai representative P Ramasamy who was an ex UKM lecturer and PKR’s Penanti state assemblyperson Muhammad Fairuz Khairuddin has been appointed as Penang’s Deputy CM’s by our new Cheif Minister Lim Guan Eng today.
