Makkal Sakti is HINDRAF Says Waythamoorthy

Well, the word Makkal Sakti is being used from little children up to some hardcore politicians from all races. The word itself has become a slogan for every Malaysian to demise the BN government on the recent election. I believe the wave of Makkal Sakti is actually fashioned by HINDRAF. However, some group of people to gain popularity is now missuing the word. Please read the following statement from Waythamoorthy for your clarification.

Brief Statement 6th April 2008.

Re : GROUP CLAIMING TO BE “MAKKAL SAKTI”

It has been brought to my attention that a group claiming to be registered as “Makkal Sakti” is now operating to recruit members as an alternative to HINDRAF and they claim HINDRAF IS NOW KNOWN AS “MAKKAL SAKTI”.

HINDRAF has been on the forefront to push the idea of People Power “Makkal Sakti”. However this group has been claiming that HINDRAF no longer exists due to government pressure and the new name of HINDRAF is “MAKKAL SAKTI”.

Indian Migrant Workers in Singapore are Homeless

What Are Indian Embassy doing?

PENNILESS, jobless and hungry

That is the plight of a group of about 50 Indian workers who have made the streets and open spaces in Little India their home - some for as long as a year.

Many of the workers, who have turned the five-foot ways in Cuff Road into a makeshift camp, claim they had paid good money to come to Singapore in search of jobs, but were duped by agents when they landed here.

In interviews with The Straits Times, many said they paid between $1,500 and $4,000 to agents in India, who promised them ‘nice jobs’ in Singapore.

But when they landed, some found there were no jobs waiting for them. Others, unaware of regulations here, were tricked into entering on social-visit passes, which do not allow them to work. A few workers even claimed they were met at the airport by ‘agents’, who took the return portion of their air tickets and disappeared.

In desperation or out of ignorance, many turned to working illegally here, and were duly arrested, jailed and caned.

Calls Made for Indian Council in Penang

Awesome news for Penang Indians. Penang Indian DAP members are urging the State Government to setup an authoritative council to handle Indian issues. It should be a one stop consign which should directly be under the governance of Penang CM and DCM. This sound to be an excellent idea. This could be a good foundation for Indians if they can make it come about. Lets pray to have this idea come to live.

The Penang DAP Indians want the state government to immediately establish a high powered state-level council that would function as a one-stop agency to manage all issues and matters pertaining to Indian affairs in the state.

In their proposal made to state DAP chairperson Chow Kon Yew recently, DAP Indian members have suggested for Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P Ramasamy to chair the council, which will come under the direct purview of the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his state executive council.

The DAP state leadership is expected to study the proposal and submit its recommendation for the executive council’s perusal and approval soon.
