Why Indians United on 25th Nov 2007 HINDRAF Rally?

Dear Readers, I’ve came across this documentary in MalaysiaKini and it was just recently added to their news portal. What I can say is that it brought back my emotions as it was during the rally where I participated with my fellow Indian brothers and sisters. Just thought of sharing this video with every Malaysian who are curious to know the course behind the HINDRAF rally. No one gathered there without any reason. The present ruling government, by one way or another, exaggerated everyone who was there. A very fair rap up video on why the event happen and I’m obliged to MalaysiaKini for producing such a thought provoking documentary. Thank You MalaysiaKini!!! Just one word for my community, stay united!!!

The documentary analyzes and highlights the chronology of the events that has led Malaysian Indians to the street protesting on the Nov 25, 2007.

Y.A.B.Tan Sri,

Re: Father’s Day ISA wish.

Weekly courtesy Public Transport for ISA detainees families from
KL to Kemta, Taiping, Perak.

We refer to the above matter and your statement in Utusan Malaysia last week offering transport and travelling expenses to Kemta prison Kamunting and school children’s allowances.

May we propose that the Selangor state government provides a free courtesy bus service belonging to the Selangor State Government from K.L. to Kemta prison once every week until all ISA detainees are released. This bus service could take off from outside Malaysiakini office in Bangsar, KL at 7am on every Sunday and ISA detainee families to be dropped back at the same point on the return journey. The Y.A.B. Menteri Besar could officially flag of this bus service on a date to be fixed preferably on or in conjunction with Father’s Day shortly. The Gabungan Mansuhkan ISA could be the co-coordinator to inform and publicise this bus service to the ISA detainee families.

HINDRAF - Teddy Bears as Fathers Day Gift to Agong

HINDRAF CHILDREN TO APPEAL TO AGONG (KING) FOR RELEASE OF ALL ISA DETAINEES ON FATHERS DAY - 15th JUNE 2008.

On Father’s Day June 15, 2008, seventy (70) HINDRAF children below the age of 10 years will lead a procession to the Agong’s Palace to present him with seventy (70) teddy bears as a Father’s day gift. This symbolic act is to show that at least seventy (70) children have been denied the right to celebrate father’s day with their fathers who are held as detainees in Kamunting under the cruel and inhuman ISA.

On this day, the Agong shall play the role of the father for these children as all Malaysians are his loyal citizens irrespective of their color, race, religion or following.

We invite HINDRAF supporters to contact Mr. Sambu should you wish to include your child/children to join this historic and symbolic occasion.

HINDRAF Penang - Police Bail Deliberately Extended

POLICE BAIL DELIBERATELY EXTENDED TILL THE 10th of JUNE

5 of us turned up at the Tanjong Tokong police station this afternoon to only be told that our remand has been extended till the 10th of June 08. Among those present was my self, Mr. Ong, Mr. Vimal, Ms. Lau Shu Shi, Mr Supramaniam and members of the press. It is very disappointing to hear of our remand. It shows how slow the police are in conducting their investigation. How much time more do they need to investigate 7 innocent activist which upholded their constitutional rights by protesting peacefully against the ISA and was later abused by the police. Are they delaying their investigation in order to scare us and slow down our upcoming protest so that we would divert our attention to our own case rather than the ISA. Till today we have not receive any apology from the Home Minister as called by the Penang State government to do so as it was a miss use of power by the Malaysian Police.

Protest in Gurney on ISA

I called upon the Malaysian Police to wrap up their investigation as fast as possible and drop all the charges that they have brought against us. Stop wasting our time, and start to work on many other important issues which effect the Public. Example, the robbery which took place in Komtar a few days ago. Komtar is located only 5min away from both the District Police HQ and State Police HQ. What a shame it is to the Police force for such incidents to happen. Don`t we have any safe place in Penang Anymore ?… and yet they can waste their time disturbing and arresting peaceful protesters as if there is no other cases for them to deal with.

HINDRAF - Renowned Human Rights Watchdogs Issued Statements in Relation to Human Right Violations in Malaysia

PRESS STATEMENT 29.05.2008

RE: STATEMENT ISSUED BY AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL & FIDH

Yesterday, two (2) renowned Human Rights watchdogs being Amnesty International and FIDH have issued statements in relation to human right violations in Malaysia that are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948.

HINDRAF welcomes the statements made and the international pressures through such esteemed organizations are powerful indicator as the international society begins to take keen interest on the atrocities created against Human rights and freedom in Malaysia. The pressure will be ongoing and it will not stop until, Malaysia recognizes and practices international standards on human freedom and rights.

The irony of the whole event is, Malaysia being a member of the United Nations Human Right Council had pledged to engage constructively in evolving the work of Human Rights Council for promotion and protection of human right through international standards and protection mechanism.
