Happy Belated Birthday and Goodbye to Uncle Samy
Samy to stay on as MIC chief
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, who crashed to a shock defeat in the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat, will continue as the MIC president and restructure and rebuild the party.
In a statement, he said he was not feeling unhappy but reminded the MIC members that they were in a very challenging period. - Star
After sitting so comfortably in his parliamentary seat for Sungai Siput and as a minister since 1979, he lost with great humiliation to his competitor Dr D Jeyakumar for the first time with a vote different of 1820++. He knew the Indians were not happy with him, but he was stubborn and doesn’t want to accept the reality.
While I was back in my Hometown Taiping to vote, I have heard people saying that he is campaigning so aggressively on his territory for the first time. He bought 300 brand new Motorcycles for the Orang Asli and regained jewelries from pawnshops for local Indians there. Still he was not able to capture their support. Why?
