Gaura Purnima
Today is Gaura Purnima, the appearance day of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Gauranga Maha Prabhu Ki…Jai!!! I know many of you will be wondering on what’s this all about by now. Am I right?…crossing fingers. Infact, I came to know about this festival just 6 years ago. Therefore, it is not strange if you do not know anything about Gaura Purnima. Be cool. You’re fortunate to know about it know. Let MakalVoice Blog to have the privilege to enlighten its readers on some insight of this wonderful festival.

Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Krishna Himself appearing as His own devotee to teach us that we can gain full enlightenment simply by chanting the holy names of the Lord:

Those who witnessed the Lord’s pastimes saw Him dance and chant with ecstatic love for God. Mahaprabhu induced many people to take up the process and taste the spiritual pleasure it bestows on anyone who begins to chant, no matter what their background or level of spiritual qualification.
The present-day International Society for Krishna Consciousness continues the work begun by Lord Chaitanya, who predicted that the chanting of the holy names of Krishna would spread all over the world.
Gaura Purnima means “Golden Full Moon,” signifying that Lord Chaitanya took birth at the time of the full moon, and that the Lord blesses everyone with the soothing, moonlike rays of His sublime teachings. His followers observe this festival by fasting and chanting the holy names. At moonrise, a sumptuous vegetarian feast is offered to the Lord and then enjoyed by all.
This festival is very famous among the vaisnavas and celebrated around the world by all the Hare Krishna Devotees. It’s celebrated throughout Malaysia also by all ISKCON centers. There are centers almost in every well-known city. Please find some free time and make a point to attend any of the centers you know nearby your area and get the blessings of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. I will be joining Penang ISKCON to celebrate this festival today evening.
